Post Ericsson Corporate Responsibility Efforts Receive Recognition

Ericsson Philippines was recently awarded the Nordic-Philippine Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award for Activity of the Year by the Nordic Business Council of the Philippines (NBCP). The NBCP gave the awards during the celebration of their First Anniversary Dinner held at the Dusit Thani Manila Hotel. The NBCP is a non-stock, non-profit organization that promotes and facilitates trade, commerce, industry, and investment between the Philippines and the Nordic and Baltic countries.

The award commended Ericsson for its sustained corporate responsibility efforts in the country, such as activities undertaken in partnership with customers to support public elementary and high schools in Metro Manila. The NBCP also recognized Ericssonís efforts to aid Typhoon Yolanda survivors in Tacloban, which included the deployment of Ericsson Response, an employee volunteer initiative that set up and maintained emergency telecommunications equipment, used by the United Nationsí World Food Programme teams in the area to serve the needs of 2.5 million Yolanda survivors. Other support included deployment of mini-GSM radio base stations to support a customerís network in Samar and Leyte, and donation efforts initiated by Ericsson employees that were matched by the company.

NBCP President Bo Lundqvist lauded Ericssonís CSR activities in the Philippines, citing the companyís continuous CSR programs, and its efforts during the calamity of Yolanda as great examples of Nordic corporate social responsibility.

Ericsson Response is a global initiative that provides communications expertise, equipment, and resources in times of need. With about 140 active employee volunteers, Ericsson Response assists humanitarian relief organizations with communications technology and competence to contribute to a better and faster response to human suffering when disaster strikes.
