Fast-rising mobile device manufacturer
Gionee has chosen former
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte as its brand ambassador.
According to
Gionee officers,
Mayor Sara Duterte exemplifies
Gionee smartphones—full of substance from inside and out, such the reason why she is the perfect model for the product.
Duterte has made a name for herself separate from her famous father, incumbent Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. She was earlier criticized after punching a court sheriff after a chaotic dispersal of illegal settlers at a barangay in Davao. She has since apologized for the incident.
Despite all these,
Duterte continues to enjoy respect from residents there.
Duterte led the opening of
Gionee’s concepts store in Davao last February 22. The store offers the full line of Gionee products, from low to high-end smart phones and devices.
The opening of the Davao City Concepts Store is part of
Gionee’s aggressive expansion as it hopes to solidify its presence in all major cities in the country within the year.
In choosing Davao first,
Gionee Philippines mobile head Katrin Salanga-Gregorio cited the robust development and burgeoning sophisticated market there.
“
Gionee has a full range of offerings catering to different market segments. But we believe our buyers are those who are not only stylish but also intelligent and mature, so they look beyond the brand and really scrutinizes the features of the smart phones before making a purchase,” she said.
The new
Gionee Concepts Store is located at the 3rd Level, Spazio of Gaisano Mall along J.P. Laurel St. in Davao City. It is owned and operated by Banana Telecoms Inc. headed by Wilson Lu. Lu is also president and chief executive officer of Wiltelcom, one of the biggest telecoms store in Mindanao.
